Typical nice sherry cask whisky. Remarkable finish with lot's of cigar tobacco. Very nice.

A GlenDronach-style sherry influence, but a bit less in-your-face so that the character of the spirit still shines through.

Very nice color. Thick streaks on the glass. It smells great! sherry cask, not too intense, mild barrel notes, canning gum. Strong start! You need something to digest the violence and then gradually feel the individual components: wood, vanilla, chocolate, a furry note. Not very sweet or fruity, but not harsh or spicy either. Rather nicely balanced and round. Very good!

Nose: intense heavy fruit aromas of cherries and plums with a fresh fiery acidity, bitter roasted aromas - such as slightly burnt on, vanilla sweetness, cinnamon and gingerbread spices, sour cucumber water, bouillon cubes, well integrated spicy oak notes, fragrant woody red wine notes Taste: strong - slightly bitter - fruity onset, plum juice, strawberry jam, alcohol is well integrated for 15 years - but the 53.7% are still noticeable, beautiful texture - creamy - oily, dusty oak with a lot of vanilla, slightly dry with lighter Nelkennote and mint on the palate and on the tongue, with a little water it is even fruity and creamy, the bitterness disappears Conclusion: a powerful malt, very intense for his age, because of the harsh notes I have to feel like it

A bulky, heavy, warming whisky for cold days. It's far from flawless, incorporating what would usually be "off" notes (violets and sulphur) but somehow in this bottling these appear more like features than flaws.

a great sherry malt. A lot of sherry, but not sticky, rich, but not excessive, intense but complex. A rare example of a lot of sherry influence, but still a lot of whisky influence. I like it very much.

Strong, complex sherry whisky. With a little water it opens up nicely. Great dark fruity aromas with a harmonious bitter-tart oak spice as a counterpoint. Class PLV!

i bought this bottle for 55 Euros and i think it's a steal for this quality of Oloroso matured 15yo whisky these days. Great wood influence, super abv (to als put some drops of water, not allot needed though) - oily, sirupy, sweet but a real Oloroso sweetness, NO PX sweet moment in the nose or taste.

Nose: warm raisin bread spread with butter, plum jam, orange, hazelnuts, cloves and cinnamon refine the whole meal. A very intense Sherrynaße with spicy but still subtle oak Taste: wow - creamy full of sherry, nut nougat, honey sweetness, warm oranges. In the finish then again plum jam, orange peel, sweet sherry and now more oak (milk chocolate and some pepper). A horny dripping - really beautiful Oloroso notes and delicate oak. The alcohol is super involved. A bit more depth and that would have been a smooth 90+ candidate
Malthead198812 may 2022 1:56 pm
COLOR: Amber (without dye) - a super intense and very aromatic single malt - complex fruity sherry aroma - clear oak (but not so overwhelming!) combined with an intense, very good fruit aroma - lots of volume, very good quality - good PLV for 75-80€

Great position on the so-called. Daily Dram. Strongly fruity, sweet with nice herbal accents and dark chocolate. The alcohol is perfectly hidden and the price is also acceptable for a 15 YO Cask Strength whisky.

The nose is characterized by intense sherry tones and whets the appetite for more. In the taste, the fruity notes are suppressed by spicy and tart wood notes. The alcohol is harmoniously integrated. The only thing that bothers me about this whisky is the sometimes very dominant sulfur note. Otherwise a very fine malt.
JoshNRW8925 jan 2023 10:23 pm
One of my first favorite malts at the beginning of my whisky time - luckily I found an old sample. In contrast to my first note from mid-2020, it no longer reminds me of a Glendronach Allardice 18 because it is not as sweet and has significantly less alcohol strength. It reminds me more of a good but not impressive single cask from Glendronach that I tried before and which is currently available for around 500 euros (WB101629). The Glendronach is a bit spicier, more intense but also just as dry, and this one also has minimal sulfur aromas. Otherwise, this is just a really good sherry whisky with an outstanding price-performance ratio.

Good malt. Nice sherry bomb.
Helgo8828 mar 2016 4:05 pm
In my view, very successful. Although this bottling is also very barrely and somewhat alcoholic. With a little water he opens up and becomes very round. Needs some time in the glass and then brings out a nice spicy nose with great oak flavors.

Always an interesting whisky with rough edges. Definitely not for beginners, and you have to really enjoy it. It doesn't lean in any direction for me. It basically has everything: sour-spicy notes, sweetness, oak, fruit. And yet its aromas seem orderly. It constantly counteracts and complements itself. You could spend an entire evening with it. Price is reasonable.

It has a relatively high viscosity and its bouquet is quite intense. I have aromas of dark fruits, raisin syrup, plum wine, coffee, malty sweetness, creme brulee, pipe tobacco, nuts and Maggi. Moderately complex. Relatively sweet in taste. The alcohol is well integrated and it has a relatively heavy body.

Well, this Glen Garioch is quite enjoyable, great sherry but a bit bitter and dry after all. For me this tastes like a mix of Mortlach sherry and Glenrothes sherry. With water even more Morlach. Well, you got a decent Glen Garioch sherry cask maturation but not a GlenDronach 15 Revival. Concerning price/performance ratio: 8/10

(Blind) I thought it was a typical sherry balm style in the aroma. However, I felt a little bit of Highland peat nuance in the taste, and when I put a little in my mouth, the medicinal taste seemed to come up slightly. Except for the peat feeling, it maintains the sherry balm style from beginning to end. Personally, I feel that it was greatly influenced by the Oloroso sherry cask. Overall, it seems to be a whisky that is easy to drink, but balances the heavy, sweet sherry nuance with sourness. It's hard to guess the answer because the taste is a bit vague as to whether it's a mix of the mild smoky peat and sherry nuances, or the powdery, dark cocoa nuances of sherry.
massel8721 apr 2022 7:38 pm
Very good impressions of a mature sherry malt, unfortunately only based on a 5cl sample. It appears very ripe, dark fruity, strong herbs, spicy without being woody. Very pleasant.

Whisky Hamster8710 mar 2021 7:27 pm
This one walks the line between good and evil while still coming out on the good side. Meaning it's got some weird notes that would count as off notes and flaws but these integrate perfectly into the rest of the malt so it eventually works. Not a beginners malt and not a typical sherr bomb, but a pretty good and interesting official bottling for a decent price.

Glen Garioch tasting of which this dram was part. 1. - 105091 The combination of barrels used makes this a very balanced dram. And therein lies the sore point for me, maybe too balanced .. The nose doesn't tell me much, this dram is going to work in the mouth. Tones of tea. Warming. Vanilla and very light fruit in the mouth and sometimes a bit waxy. Good but doesn't tell me much. After a while a bit nicer in the nose, almonds... bastogne cookies.. 85 2. - 72508 Clear oloroso sherry on the nose to the finish. Finish is dry but not annoying.. taste sour raspberry with warm red compote. In the aftertaste, the chocolate comes through for a long time. The sherry works well here because it really leaves room to discover more. Age is lower than you might think when tasting. A really good dram. 89 initially but over time it becomes drier and more corrosive. 88p 3. - 188954 Refill sherry? Nothing to notice about the sherry really. Nose and taste actually lead me to a wine barrel...? Very drinkable despite the ABV, could also be due to my "warmers" in the earlier rounds. Taste remains on the slightly fruity side. Dry, metallic finish. Overall dram gets better with time (some candies develop...) but I expect better from an Adelphi.. 83p 4. - 46081 Nice nose! Fresh summer fruit that makes me yearn for the first sip. After a while also something metallic that I don't necessarily find annoying. In the taste we continue on the nose with a long fruity finish that never gets dry. Good drinkable despite the 54.6% A drop or 8 (at the moment still slightly more than 2cl) activates the dram a little more. Flavors come through stronger. Finally I can name the peaches and a little bitterness remains. 86p 5. - 26366 The nose is very similar to 46081 but slightly less pronounced. The bourbon barrels do this distillate well in my eyes. Initially, the dram is silky smooth, but after about 10 seconds in the mouth, fine tingling occurs in the front of the mouth. Here too the flavors are less pronounced, but the fullness and the silky soft character are convincing! The finish is long, soft and warming. Certainly not a huge chat, but a dram that you can fill your evening with. Delicious stuff and despite the fact that it is very similar in specs and taste to the aforementioned 46081, this simply seems to be much more correct. Gariochs from the early 90s at any age and bourbon casks… no doubt! 88p

Tasted a blind sample on day three of the US Blind Tasting Competition 2018. Unfortunately not scored or noted at that time. Drinking the last drops of the sample, I must say I enjoy this quite a lot. Yes, it's strong and spirity, but still nicely sherried and full in the mouth.

The smell is that of a prototype of an intense sherry whisky, the sherry dominates very much. There are more and more whiskys at the moment (strange, where there are fewer and fewer sherry casks). This makes this type of whisky, unfortunately, something interchangeable, especially if, as here, so little of the Brennereicharakter remains. Nonetheless, the whisky provides a great flavor. In the mouth, the whisky then shows more independence, but that does not make him necessarily better. I really do not like the finish. The whisky is certainly well done, but something bothers me. Overall, he can not completely convince me. Nevertheless, he is definitely worth a recommendation. Most sherry whisky lovers will like it. The longer he breathes, the better he gets.

This is quite a nice sherry bomb. I tend to find that heavily sherried whiskies can either be very sulphury/dirty or very fruity and this one actually had quite a nice combination of the two. It’s pretty much inevitable that this would be compared to the Aberlour A’bunadh, the benchmark of the sherry bombs, and this one is not as complex, in my opinion, but is a bit more mellow and refined (and more expensive, but it does carry a nice age statement). It really is a beautiful whisky to drink, it can be sipped absent-mindedly or you can really dive into it, it works just as well for either. Reviewed in my blog: https://iwriteaboutstuffilike.com/2016/08/18/glen-garioch-15-sherry-cask-matured/
StefanKatonaXXL9018 aug 2025 9:56 pm
That was an unexpected kick in the nose! A distinctive, dense, heavy and honestly very strange whisky. The aroma mixes unusual combinations of tones of meat and vegetable dish (sarma) and sweetness of strawberry jam with milk chocolate. Distinctive peanuts with caramel immediately after pouring, perhaps the most distinct I have ever smelled in whisky. This whisky is not for everyone, honestly I could not drink more than a couple of shots of it in the whole evening. With each sniff it provides new and new experiences. The taste is definitely sherry, distinct dark chocolate, grape acidity, slight woodiness, roasted ground coffee, a subtle hint of sulfur and meatiness... Good ABV strength. This is a damn good whisky!
Joschbert8906 may 2016 9:16 pm

The sherry influence is strong. For my taste a little too hard, maybe I tasted it but also in the wrong season. Sherry friends will surely enjoy it. In the finish slightly bitter notes.
SimonOHA8021 mar 2025 9:01 pm
A sherry bomb with sulfur. It didn't make the whole thing undrinkable with that very intense note that we sometimes encounter of bitter, smoky pencil lead that overwhelms everything, but it's definitely present. Those who are sensitive to it won't like it.
Kaleva8603 feb 2019 4:14 pm
Pleasant whisky, nice on the nose with typical sherry notes + hint of sulfur. Quite punchy on its full strength but getting milder with water. Also noticeable malty notes, which still can be found even after 15 years sherry maturation. But overall impression remains good, whisky is well balanced and rather complex for the age. The price of 70-80 euros looks quite high but sometimes you can get it for as low as 50 euros and that is a great price for this whisky

Nose: Aged, slightly musty sherry, honey, dates, plums, cherries, overripe pear, very sweet, marshmallows, chocolate. There is a lot to discover in the glass, especially if you let him stand a little bit. He also has a nice pastry note, reminds me of Shortbread. I barely notice alcohol. Somewhere I read that he remembers Glendronach but not quite as the sherry strikes in the face and I can sign. Did not taste it until after 20 minutes, the first nose from the bottle just opened was a bit strange. Taste: Very oily, very sweet, much less spicy than I would have expected. Caramel, now comes the spice. The 53% I expected a bit more violent but good. Chocolate, raisins, marmalade (the Glenfarclas, I really do not taste but here the memory is still good), roasted nut / almond mix. Finish: Long with sweet oak, discreetly drier, slightly spicy, dark fruit, slightly bitter at the back, but goes well with the dominant sweetness. As sweet as that is I would have typed blindly maybe on a PX. Very cool part, I would also like to compare with an allardice. Luckily I did not find sulfur. The character I think he is quite independent as Glendronach / Glenfarclas fan. Luckily I still have a bottle in the closet :)
Erik19088607 oct 2018 4:15 pm
Like mentioned in by Kay in a previous review, it's a bit in the area of Glendronach. But is not the quality of Glendronach. Good sherried whisky for a fair price. Finish is medium long. Good whisky to have on the shelf as "daily dram" although I only drink during weekends.

Heavy on roasted and dark aromas with quite a bit of sulphur, surely not everybody's cup of tea concerning heavily sherried whiskies. The dried fruit notes are really nice, and I don't mind the sulphuriness as it really complements the character, and it does pack a real punch when delivering the flavours. I get why people like this stuff, it's big, bold, heavyily sherried malt whisky, with substantial wood maturation to it, and it shows that. I had to find out myself that I am not a big fan of these roasted notes, as for me they tend to stress the already existing bitter notes from the wood. My palate was exhausted every time after having had only a single dram. It has a certain complexity to it, but the aromas and flavours are in kind of a narrow space, which actually makes it kind of flat. Add the fact that it still feels a bit pungent and alcoholic on the palate, which makes it appear unbalanced, and you get my score.

Nose: Dry sherry, spices (mainly marjoram), noticeable sulfur notes, as if from a freshly produced match, clear walnut. Fruit? Maybe cornelian cherries. Palate: walnut, sulfur, sherry, spices, old oak. Finish: Long. Sulfur. Walnut partitions. Sherry. Conclusion: very independent, but no everebody's darling. Very good, but the hype I find slightly exaggerated. Oh, and no miss notes in that sense. Also not fuzzy, so zero. It is best when diluted to about 46%. Below that, he loses sherry too much, and it's mostly sulfur.
StyrianSpirit8916 apr 2017 8:53 pm
Great color, strong in taste and finish. Personally, I find it even better with a little water (2 teaspoons). Can easily compete with the established (and sometimes much more expensive) "Sherrystars".
Lukas_Kiene8606 may 2020 8:56 pm
Dried fruits, dates, dried orange, plums, hints of orange zest that has been left in the sun for some time, intense sherry influence, raisins, slightly Christmassy spices, hints of wet tobacco. The character is generally quite dry. Takes some time to 'understand' what this Whisky is trying to be like, but after giving it a 3rd try it definitely convinced me. Outstanding aroma, very exciting taste. Very long finish as well, sadly a bit unspectacular as the alcohol comes through a bit, underlined by a slightly flat taste that doesn't do justice to the nose. Otherwise the alcohol is well integrated.

What Mr. Gloin writes I can only underline. The malt is certainly well done, but at the 90 points he comes with me not synonymous ran. What bothers me about him is the lack of depth and complexity. The alcohol is a bit too present for me here. But that is whining at a high level

Nose: Sweet, cherry, spices, raisin, oak, chocolate | Palate: Sweet, spicy, oak, spices, a hint of licorice, cherry, dark dried fruit, a touch of cherry skin | Finish: Medium to long; sweet notes, spices, dark dried fruit, and a hint of oak linger. | Conclusion: The nose starts intensely sweet. Cherry, almost like it's been stewed, comes along with spices and raisins. Oak and chocolate then follow. The palate begins intensely, sweetly, and spicy. Spices and a hint of licorice emerge. Cherry and dark dried fruit follow. A touch of cherry skin is perceptible at the end. | 86-87 points

Modern sherry profile, but quite independent due to this herbaceous base tone. A tasting from a bottle with two identical glasses revealed two different profiles.
RobbievdB8722 oct 2020 7:51 pm
On the nose this is quite GlenDronach’ish with that signature sherry influence. It offers loads of red fruits, rooibos tea, sweet juicy caramel and autumn leaves. Taste and finish of this Glen Garioch can’t keep up with the nose. There the sulfur pops up (not really adding imo) and quite some bitter notes are added like dark chocolate, herbs, oak and tannins.

An intense, delicious sherry whisky. At eye level with the Glendronach Allardice of the Billy Walker era. A very good price-enjoyment ratio even in early 2021!

This is a very nice, "heavier" style whisky that I would expect from Glen Garioch. It is full of sherry spices like GlenDronach but it has a darker, heavier, unami heart that reminds me more of Mortlach than GlenDronach. I like it. 86.
Glennie8903 oct 2016 10:06 pm
A very nice sherried dram. Not a sherry bomb, but very close. fresh red fruits and dried fruit. Baking spices. Some Honey and toffee swetness. A hint of sulphur but not enough to really bother me. It just seems to spice it up in a rather pleasant way. I bought this for €50. At that Price it is a steal. At €70 it would still be value for money in todays market.

I really like it! If I like the 12, this 15y is a really great sherry candidate. From the beginning to the end, you have the dark sherry influences in your nose and mouth. The almost 54% of alcohol is only noticeable in the mouth due to the liveliness of the tongue. A few drops of water are good for him.
Corso_theRed9022 dec 2015 1:31 pm
Glen Garioch’s rather different distillery character puts an interesting twist on an otherwise run-off-the-mill sherry maturation. It is not winey at all, but full of interesting aromas and flavor constituents that reminds me of their 1999 Vintage Batch 30. Great sherry malt!
Gearmailteach8708 dec 2015 8:31 pm
A very good sherry dram, which needs some time to breathe, but it does well without water. Sherry and barrel influence are still not too strong. Exactly my thing.
Dramned!9011 sep 2016 9:19 pm
A wonderful old whisky, where I do not mean the old with the 15 years, but he smells really old, tastes old - feels old. A true old-school sherry whisky. This is primarily due to the rich oak tones and tannins that he was able to absorb from the barrels in the 15 years.
Nosingbär8720 nov 2022 6:02 pm
I'll say it this way, it's not easy. In the sense of not easy drinking, nothing for every day, as others have already written, I agree. A board in terms of flavors and mouthfeel, there's something going on. You just have to be in the mood for it. There is a lot of dry sherry in it, which almost goes into vegetable notes, towards celery. Incidentally, it tolerates water, so the intensity does not suffer. One has to contend with the promise of dessert flavors on the nose and while the whisky is in fact sweet, it also has tart components and hearty, zesty flavours. A specialist, so to speak. Yes, there are 87 points for that. He's too special for me for more points.

Lakerfield8016 oct 2019 8:17 pm
I've had a very similar experience with the Glen Garioch Founder's Reserve a couple of years ago and what shall I say, it's clearly their spirit and I'm not really a fan of this profile. It is however, the best travel retail bottle I've had to date. It's a complex and very interesting whisky to take your time with and discover all the nuances, but a few dominant notes spoil it for me though. The amount of spice and cinnamon is just too damn high and the gunpowder note doesn't excite me as well (Glenfarclas 15 still haunts me). Letting it breathe for plenty of time tones down the notes I'm not fond of, that kind of saved this whisky for me. Next Glen Garioch will probably be a sample first!
Captain.Islay8706 aug 2019 11:00 am
Initially, he was very sulfurous type New Year burglar and burned matches. After about 2 weeks with air in the bottle, the sulfur note is much more pleasant. The taste he settled on the bitter - bitter side. A great drop from the sherry barrel with many interesting facets.

Great whisky, mature, heavy on sherry, old school Nice color by the way! N- Initially somewhat closed with hints of fruity notes and a subtle menthol note... after a few minutes in the glass, quite pleasant aromas of dates, rosemary, nutmeg, tobacco, oak. Looks very ripe on the nose. Adult whisky, not necessarily suitable for getting started (in a tasting). M - powerful attack with initial sweetness. The cask strength, which tickled the nose only slightly, brings a lot of fire to the tongue. Beautiful notes of pepper, pleasant sharpness, cloves, later herb garden, rosemary again. The tobacco comes back in the finish and it really stays for a really long time. Puffed on the pipe for the first time :) Round, nutty. Really good.

Nose: The nose screams first "sulfur !!!!". behind it comes slowly chocolate notes that appear in burnt plum jam. After a long time in the glass, the sulfur notes come through again clearly. All in all, a very intense nose with a lot to discover. Taste: Here, too, again sulfur and a bitterness on the tongue, reminiscent of walnuts. Burnt rubber tires then comes to my mind. Fruity notes, now more in the direction of red grapes are becoming more and more clear and later it all goes in the chocolaty direction. The alcohol is very well integrated. Finish: Not too long. Again, I have mostly bitter chocolate and the sulfur that lingers in the mouth and throat. Conclusion: To me personally too much sulfur. But I am already very sensitive and, in most cases, almost everything else in the smell and taste is covered by it. With this whisky I can find in the background other flavors that I like very much (chocolate, walnuts and plum jam). All in all, with the freshly opened bottle, there is still too much sulfur in it. Therefore, first of all, a rather moderate rating on my part. I'll edit my notes 1-2 months in a row and then add to how the Garioch gets the air.
Don Cassi8708 jul 2021 11:59 am
Fruity nose with notes of sherry and aromas of orange and peach. In addition, black tea and associations with sparklers. In the mouth you can feel the alcohol, which strongly defines the aromas. In the finish, the tea spreads out again, followed by fruity sherry notes and finally dark chocolate. Great sherry bomb, intense, fruity, dark. Note 1-
Bene379221 mar 2023 7:58 pm
Nose: aromatic, tart-sweet and spicy, black tea with rock candy, dried fruit (orange, apricot, raisins, apple rings, figs), leather, milk coffee, cinnamon Palate: present, tart-sweet, black tea with rock candy, leather, dried fruit (as above), milk coffee, cinnamon, aniseed, ginger Finish: medium to long, black tea with rock candy, dried fruit (as above), leather, cinnamon Rating: nice thing with a tart-sweet-spicy play of aromas that I like (also because it's more on the tart side). I especially like the black tea with rock candy, but the rest goes well too. The Oloroso casks are there, but don't overwhelm the whisky. You can occupy yourself with it for a while and explore the different facets. Yummy stuff. 92/100 or 8/10 I also had another batch of that in the glass that had far too much sulfur for me personally. I don't notice any sulfur in this one.
JohannesB8805 mar 2016 2:54 pm
A beautiful sherry-ripened whisky, which despite the strong influence of the oak barrels has retained an independent character. In particular, the intense Nussigkeit and the strong roasting aromas are found in almost all Glen Garioch from the sherry barrel. The only criticism is the not perfectly integrated alcohol and a little too much dryness in the mouth. Overall, but highly recommended, especially if you can get it for ~ 50 EUR in many Bordershop.
Julia E S8925 jun 2017 3:00 pm
Glen Garioch 15 YO Sherry Without water nose A creamy caramel he comes along. In addition, there are classic dark fruits from grapes to raisins and dried plums for sherry barrel aging. The alcohol is also present. mouth For the alcohol strength mild on the tongue. The fruits from the nose are also present on the tongue and on the palate. After the plums have spread on the palate, the raisins follow in the finish. Then the oak comes discreetly. leaving Raisins and oak; Everything works very well With water nose With water the oak becomes more present; he becomes nuttier thereby; some nougat; As for the fruit, it becomes altogether more light-fruited; overripe apricot; mouth The oak becomes more intense; overall nutty and a subtle nougat aroma; The other flavors, on the other hand, return; The oak is stronger here, too Conclusion Very good classic sherry barrel aged whisky. Everything is very round and harmonious. Whether one likes the whisky with water or without water is certainly a matter of taste. I think both are nice.

Very impressive sherry cask malt, it is convincingly old-world, well balanced with dark fruits and heavy savory elements. Quite balanced, sometimes to the point of being a bit tricky to pull individual notes from. Either way, I’m really won over by its old-fashioned character and little idiosyncrasies, but I actually find the current Glen Garioch 12 to be even better. For a young to mid-aged, easy-to-find, sherry-cask-matured whisky in today’s world this is still far ahead of the curve, though.
Jordanite8519 sep 2019 5:36 pm
Conventional wisdom is that often the first few drams of a bottle are not indicative of a whisky, because most whiskies improve with some oxidisation. However in this particular instance the neck was fabulous: It was the least raisin-y and least syrupy sherry-matured whisky I have nosed. Deep, rich fruit notes abound and the palate was likewise thick and wonderful. However after a few weeks the sulfur flavours began to take over, smothering the fine notes I experienced in the first few drams. It has since taken several months of sitting in a cupboard, as well as adding far less water, for the sulfur to subside and the taste to largely return. Had I rated the whisky at this stage it would have been a sub-80 dram for sure. The rating here is based upon the impression after months of sitting in the cupboard. As most reviewers have already expressed, this is a very impressive sherried whisky, with far more depth and less cloying sweetness than many other sherry bombs.

A sherry malt that you can hardly find anymore. These are definitely not “seasoned casks”, but rather old-school sherry casks. The sherry is of course correspondingly dominant and harmonizes well with bitter, bitter woody notes. The slight sulfur haze could be seen as a missing note, but it didn't really bother me. https://www.aboutwhisky.de/tastingnotes/glen-garioch-15-jahre-sherry-cask-matured/

Nose: The aroma initially offers a wide range of dark fruits. Ripe berries and plums in particular stand out. The spicy side with oak and Christmas spices such as clove and cinnamon quickly becomes apparent. A hint of apple flashes briefly. Roasted aromas, leather and tobacco notes follow. • Taste: The Glen Garioch is full-bodied with sweet fruits. The alcohol is very well integrated. Dark chocolate and espresso appear on the palate. A pepper and spice note are added. Finally, I taste oak wort and a slight bitterness. • Outlet: Medium length and warming with nuts, chocolate and dry oak.

AXEoftheNORTH8724 jun 2026 10:21 pm
Nose: the sherry tickles the nose right from the start, but this is soon followed by aromas of dark forest fruits, dried fruit and raisins, and dark chocolate; the tart sweetness gives way to a pleasant dryness Palate: rich and juicy; dried fruit with a blend of cinnamon, raisin sweetness and nutmeg; later, a honeyed sweetness returns, along with the dry sherry. Finish: pleasant and long, astringent; a pleasant, dry woodiness is overlaid by a spicy sweetness (is there such a thing as milk chocolate with raisins and cinnamon? Considerably more mature than the standard 12-year-old; the three extra years in the cask and the further maturation in sherry casks have done the whisky a world of good. Despite the sherry finish, a typically fine Glen Garioch

Beautiful spicy Oloroso whisky with good oak cargo, which still keeps the Brennereicharakter alive. Oranges, raisins, but rather dry and not sweet. Looks a bit older than 15. Especially the fruity-woody finish is outstanding. Minimal sulfur score that does not bother.

WOW ... an awesome dram! Intense character and flavors. Despite the 53.7%, the alcohol is very well integrated and no water is needed. My first Glen Garioch, unlike any Drams tried so far. Nose: dominated by dried fruits: dates, raisins, also cherries in chocolate, chocolates with alcohol (barrel), orange peel, cinnamon, vanilla, a lot of barrel, dusty furniture, a slightly alcoholic leather strap. Taste: quite dry, bitterness in the form of dark chocolate and a hint of alcohol (could be a bit more hidden), pepper, from the sweeter elements oranges, chocolates with orange jelly, orange peel, raisins; tobacco, a lot of barrel/oak Finish: medium, dark chocolate, ginger, tobacco, pepper, dried dark fruits, cherries, barrel/oak notes. 87 points Whisky more of the "dirty" and dry variety with not fully hidden alcohol.

i really dont understand all the very high marks - 90 and beyond. i find this malt a little bitter and disharmonious - weird but not in a good way. i totally love the age statement, the high abv and strong sherry influence - and the price!! but this combination has its reason imo - if this was something like a GD 15 year old at near cask strength, it would sell for 110 $ - but the glen garioch15 doesnt!!! and thats because it's far less tasty!! not a rebuy for me!

A really Black Sheep of a 'Sherry Bomb'. The Sulphur is undeniably there what makes the nose quite hard to get around ( it really is quite strong!) mouth and Finnish are really not bad at all. Really glad I got a sample.... Ill leave it there.*** Actually Perplexes me that people think this is a good dram. is sodding awful. It was an awful lot of money for something that I have no how it left the distillery.
