Can water withstand

Definitely more sherry, with apricot, yellow peach, mirabelle and greengage plums, a drop of honey, a cloud of sooty smoke, brown tobacco, varnished wood. Runny egg yolk. Crushed red berries. A whiff of iodine. On the palate, it's not bad, woody, slightly lemony, almonds, vanilla milk, but the spices make their presence felt quite quickly: cumin and black pepper. Macerated raisins, Chinese soy-banana cake. The finish is fairly long, but not so powerful: chocolate brownie, hazelnuts, licorice, a slight bitterness, earth and ferns. Fig cookies. A 10-year-old Ben Nevis from the 100 Proof Edition. It's relatively dark, matured in 1st fill PX and 2nd fill Oloroso. So it could be relatively sweet. glen-efze.de

A pleasant, easy-drinking sherry, which loses a point because of the alcohol, what a shame.

Ben Nevis Aged 10 Years, Signatory Vintage 100 Proof Series Ed 63. 57.1% of course. 60ml sample from Whisky Site. Consumed at home on a very rainy day in Dec 2025. Dark amber. Aroma is creamy. Very lactic in fact. Raspberry yoghurt in a big way. Oh dear, the PX cask has really taken over here. Background molasses. Yikes – this sort of lactic vibe might be my least favourite whisky profile. Everybody is different, and you might like it. It’s just so yoghurty. Vanilla raspberry smoothie. Balloons (like the smell of a packet of blow-up-yourself balloons). Over time there’s some more typical raisin. Body is light, slick and just bordering into oiliness. Taste is spicier than the aroma had suggested, which is a blessing. I thought it was going to be a sweet mess, but it’s not. Charred, some white pepper. The very clear raisin flavours are not overbearing, and actually it’s quite pleasant on the palate. It always impresses me how Ben Nevis spirit can stand up to even the most heavy handed of cask treatment, and it still shows up here with some spiritous heat and graininess. 3.2/77 With water aiming for 48% - the raisin and chocolate comes out more on the aroma. Chocolate covered strawberry. Body is watery. Taste is breathy, strawberry notes, char. Easy-going, some good spice and char to it. Has some balance to the palate – leaning spicy rather than sweet, which is good in my book, and it’s not just a sherry bomb. Not a fantastic whisky by any means, but at the price it’s not too bad. 3.3/79

The nose and taste are exceptionally pleasant for the price. The finish is a bit unusual. You can linger over it for a long time, enjoying the many interesting aromas. And on the palate, it lives up to the promise of the casks and the distillery itself. That's a lot of sherry whisky for €45. A great buy. We've only experienced a more satisfying finish – even in this price range.

A dessert-driven whisky centered on dark fruits and caramel. Quite uncharacteristic of Ben Nevis’s usual style.
